Disaster Strikes is a political hardcore punk band from Boston, Massachusetts, U.S.A. Our music and message are unapologetically political. We exist as a band to do our part in the fight against corporate greed by promoting workers’ rights and social justice. We aim to put our words into action by partnering with a range of local and national radical and progressive groups to promote labor solidarity and social justice principles within our corner of the underground music scene, and beyond.
Your support, along with that of our friends, labels, and our fellow touring punk bands, has helped make that possible for nearly a decade — and we’re just getting started.
As corporations tighten their grip even further on our planet, our labor, our electoral processes, and our mental environment, the Supreme Court of the United States, ALEC, and an army of right wing “corporate supremacists” have ushered us into a new age — the age of corporate personhood.
The consolidation of wealth and power that the anti-globalization movement warned of in the 1990’s and early 2000’s has given way to a moment when 80 people now have more wealth than half the world. That is why we offer our music in solidarity with the international labor movement, the Occupy Movement, the Fight for $15, and all struggles to promote freedom, equality, and global mobility for people — not for corporations.
Disaster Strikes has completed several tours of the United States and Canada. In 2016, we will begin touring further and with more frequency than ever before in conjunction with the release of “In the Age of Corporate Personhood”.
