MEET DFMK AND GET READY FOR "PLAYA NUCLEAR"

With a brand new album, "Playa Nuclear" dropping THIS FRIDAY, October 17th, this is a perfect time to get into DFMK

Tijuana, Mexico, is home for DFMK, a pu
nk rock band formed from the ashes of several bands back in 2009; they played their first gig and released their first 8-song demo in 2010. In the last 15 years, they have released several EP’s, a Full Length LP, toured Mexico and the USA several times and had a few lineup changes on the way.

This Friday they’re about to release their second release on Alternative Tentacles, their new LP "Playa Nuclear". Overall, DFMK’s style is characterized by its stripped-down, DIY approach, reflecting their roots in the underground punk scene. Their music is fast, aggressive, and direct, capturing a raw energy that thrives on urgency and defiance. With a focus on simplicity and authenticity, their songs get straight to the point without over- complicating things. The lyrics cover a broad range of topics, shaped by each member's unique perspective, with no political rants, youth anthems, or melodramatic love stories. Instead, you get an unapologetic, no-nonsense attitude that’s both accessible and real.

If you are curious and want to know the meaning of DFMK, catch them live and ask the band directly, as vocalist Mr. Cap, bassist Fernando Cruz, guitarist Boti, and drummer Alex Cota all might have different answers, each offering a unique perspective.

Recorded in 2023 in Tijuana by DFMK’s long-time friend and collaborator Fernando Morales, who also worked on many of the EP releases from the band including the band's first Alternative Tentacles Records release, the “Dame Peligro” 7" . Mastered by Jason Livermore at The Blasting Room in Fort Collins, CO who the band has worked with many times as well. The album features artwork by Boom Boom Kid, aka Nekro, a punk rock icon from Buenos Aires, Argentina (of the bands Fun People, Boom Boom Kid) who also contributes vocals on “Lo Que Necesito” on the album, along with keyboards by Nicole Laurenne, from labelmates The Darts on the title track “Playa Nuclear” and “Sometidos y Aburridos”
