What a loss!
Biggest shock of all of them lately.
He even inspired a good Pitchfork article!
Two really kool things they left out is his Baffler article during the major label Grunge gobbling spree, warning all in how completely and systematically those bands get ripped off, including the math.

The other is that no matter how many megastars he recorded, he was always willing to work with small unknown bands, if they could pay his still street-level studio rates.
In other words, nasty mouth or not, he had a deep passionate love for music that never jaded. He never stopped being a fan.
Beloved friend of Westley too.
