THE HELLFLOWERS "Vamonos!" LP
This album is unique as it features their early punk stylings but also shows The Hellflowers ability to not beholden to any one genre. It opens with an atmospheric surf song “Vamonos” that sets the mood for the oncoming rock n roll anthem “Little Boogie”. “Music’s My Love” is up next, a love song that gets stuck in your head from the first beat. A couple upgrades from EP’s past with “Running Through The Fog” and the fiery “String” all about a woman's independence. “I Cried” is an unreleased break up song, followed by the desperate punk banger “Fucked Up Nation” all about the hopelessness that is our current state. On “Control” Alex Mack tries his hand at being lead singer, followed by their take on the Devo classic “Girl You Want”. Finishing off the journey with an alt country vibe is “Way Out West”.
