Description
“The most controversial album by the most controversial band in our controversial label’s history!” - Jello Biafra
They wrote the book on offensiveness and they remain one of the most controversial punk bands to this day! Formed in Lansing, MI in 1982, formed around lyricist and mouthpiece, the inimitable Doc Corbin Dart, whose anti-establishment politics and bent for provocative, deliberately offensive lyrical posturing made the Crucifucks something of an America analogue to England’s legendary Crass. The Crucifucks also possessed an absurdist streak that linked them to the acerbic humor of Jello Biafra and the surreal social satire of Pere Ubu.
This self-titled 1985 Alternative Tentacles Records debut, featuring Dart on vocals, Gus Varner on guitar, Marc H. on bass, and future Sonic Youth drummer Steve Shelley, would include some of the most volatile political punk of the time, including tracks like "Hinckley Had a Vision" and "Cops for Fertilizer." The album would later be collected on the Our Will Be Done CD.
In the years since its original release The Crucifucks has built a dedicated cult following, though in a 2007 interview, Doc Dart would disown the album, calling it "an abomination"! We call it a classic! Our distributor calls it Virus 38!
Alternative Tentacle Records is proud to bring this classic abomination back in print with three versions! The wide release version on black vinyl, the limited Record Store version on red vinyl, and the limited Artist edition on red and green splatter, available in our exclusive Patreon Store.
